Azerbaijan, Baku, 12 February / Trend corr I. Alizade / The Azerbaijani Parliament has made a decision to re-name two villages of Azerbaijan. On 12 February, the Azerbaijani Parliament discussed re-naming Aydin Gun village in the Salyan region and Kirovkand village in the Ujar region.

According to MP Rustam Khaliov, a member of the Parliamentary Toponymy Commission, the residents of Aydin Gun village applied to the Parliament to re-name the village into Yeni Ulukhanli. And the residents of Kirovkand asked to re-name the village into Anvar Mammadkhanli.

However, the MPs voiced their discontent on re-naming different places in Azerbaijan, including the villages. They said that the re-naming of places has become a tradition and that is inadmissible from the historical point of view.

After wild discussions in the Parliament, it was decided to re-name the Aydin Gun village in the Salyan region into Yeni Ulukhanli and the Kirovkand village in the Ujar region into Anvar Mammadkhanli.
