Thirty People to be Executed in Iran on 27 July

Azerbaijan, Baku, 27 July / Trend corr. T.Jafarov/ On 27 July, 30 people will be executed in Teheran. According to the Tehran Prosecutor's Office, the people are charged for drug smuggling, hooliganism and immorality. The information is placed on the website of Tehran Prosecutor's Office.

In recent days, 13 people were publicly executed in Iran's Tehran, Ahvaz and Sabzvar cities for different charges.

In September, 2007, the UN General Assembly passed a resolution on abolishment of execution.

In January, 2008, Iran's Justice Minister Ayatollah Seyyed Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi banned public executions. But in case of social necessity the ban may be broken with his permission, he said.
