The last academic year was a successful one for the first students of the preparatory faculty of the Russian I. M. Gubkin University of Oil and Gas's Ashgabat branch.
Students became freshmen of two faculties for general professional training. They have already begun to study the foundations of their future profession by mastering the following specialties: drilling oil and gas wells, the development and exploitation of oil and gas wells and machinery and equipment in the oil and gas sector, the daily newspaper "Neutral Turkmenistan" reported.
This branch was established through an initiative from the Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Trend reports that the Ministry of Education is at present negotiating to set up an Ashgabat branch of the U.S. institution, Columbia University. Berdimuhamedov suggested this idea during his participation in a UN session in New York.
This article said that all the conditions have been created for quality education in the Ashgabat's branch of the Russian university. Subject classrooms and teaching laboratories have been equipped with all the necessary materials. There are teaching and practical materials, computer technology and special laboratory equipment in the university.
A significant replenishment of the university's library was a significant event in the academic year. Approximately 4,000 books were presented. First, it is educational and practical literature for pre-university and general professional training.
Russian periodicals and professional journals on the oil and gas industry are also widely available in the library. This list includes "Petroleum Engineering", "Construction of Oil and Gas Onshore and Offshore wells ", "Russia's Oil", "Oil and Gas Vertical," "Geology, Geophysics, and the Development of Oil and Gas Fields", and others.
In the future it will be possible to visit a global network on the Internet and browse the bookshelves of the alma mater, the I. M. Gubkin University of Oil and Gas situated in Moscow, while in the university library, which is equipped with modern Internet technology.
Professors from the main university in Moscow have visited Ashgabat.
The group included five people - Russian professors V. V. Kalinin, A. I. Chernoutsan, V. G. Pirozhkov, S. N. Boziyev and Associate Professor, O. V. Konstantinova. First, they held consultations for students in the Faculty of Pre-University Training, and later conducted exams for the first students of the Ashgabat branch, together with their Turkmen counterparts.
Information on the establishment of Ashgabat branch of the I. M. Gubkin University of Oil and Gas was published in one of recent issues of the Moscow newspaper "Poisk" (The Search). The founders include the I. M. Gubkin University of Oil and Gas and the Support for Higher Oil and Gas Education Foundation.
