Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov signed a decree on "Amnesty of people sentenced to imprisonment", in honor of one of the most respected and sacred dates to all Muslims - Kadir Gecesi (Night of Omnipotence).

Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov signed a decree on "Amnesty of people sentenced to imprisonment", in honor of one of the most respected and sacred dates to all Muslims - Kadir Gecesi (Night of Omnipotence).

Under the decree, about 1,284, inculuding 21 foreigners will be released from further serving of the principal punishment, as well as an additional penalty of compulsory residence in a certain area.

While signing the decree, Berdimuhammedov said that "another amnesty is a tribute to humane traditions of ancestry." The president instructed corresponding officials to take all measures for the pardoned could celebrate the holiday at their homes", the national TV channel Altyn Asir reported.

In addition, the heads of law enforcement agencies, participated in the governmental meeting, reported on the status of assigned organizations and fulfillment of their orders.

"The Turkmen state will continue to pay special attention to strengthen legality in Turkmenistan, develop and improve material-technical base of law enforcement agencies", Berdimuhamedov said after the hearing the reports.
