U.S. does not completely give up missile defense system (MDS) in Europe, realization of this project is still in effect, said Said Yari, an expert on nuclear issues, Secretary General of the Organization for the Protection of National Interests of Iran.

"Taking such a step of propaganda charter, President Barack Obama speaks of refusal of such system," Yari told Trend by telephone from Tehran.
Czech media reported on Sept. 17, citing a diplomatic source that the U.S. President Barack Obama on Sept. 17 informed the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Jan Fischer of the renunciation from the deployment of anti-missile system of the United States on the Czech territory, RIA Novosti reported.

According to Yari, due to the global financial crisis, Obama has faced several problems. "In recent months, protest actions are held against Obama in major U.S. cities. Failure of the head of the White House to make big changes in domestic and foreign policy, global financial crisis have caused large economic crisis in this country. Obama administration has made several financial injections into the market, but we witness that substantial work was not done in the economic system of the U.S. to address this problem," he said.

Placement of missile defense system in Europe is envisaged in the doctrine of NATO and U.S. security agencies, and therefore, completely liquidating this is impossible, said Yari. "Placement of missile defense system in Europe is carried out in order to prevent Russia's influence, eliminate possible threats from Iran and South Korea. This issue is stipulated in the doctrine of NATO and U.S. security agencies," said Iranian expert.

"Currently, an attack on any country, introducing troops (in Iraq and Afghanistan) or the placement of missile defense systems in Poland and the Czech Republic require huge financial costs, so Obama is forced to make such a maneuver," said Yari.

According to him, with this step, Obama wants to slightly mitigate the level of disagreement among the population of the United States. "He wants to show that, well, I did work to remove large military expenditure, as well as withdraw from Iraq, reduce troops in Afghanistan and postpone deploying missile defense system," said Yari.
