Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, September 25 / Trend G.Hasanov / At his meetings in New York, where he arrived to attend the UN General Assembly, the President of Turkmenistan Gurbangulu Berdimuhamedov invited the heads of several European states - Serbian President Boris Tadic, President of Poland Lech Kaczynski, President of Estonia Toomas Ilves, to make official visit to Ashgabat.
According to official Turkmen sources, dates of visits will be agreed through diplomatic channels. Initially for the preparation of these visits, the delegations will visit Turkmen capital to specify perspective spheres of partnership.
Europe and Turkmenistan is connected via the Nabucco project, which the Central Asian country, according to recent statements by Berdimuhamedov, is ready to join. He emphasized that Turkmenistan sells gas on its borders and significant reserves of this fuel were confirmed by the independent Western auditors.
At the meeting with the Turkmen leader, Lech Kaczynski noted the importance of enhancing bilateral relations in the fuel and energy complexes. The national television channel Altin Asyr reported today that highlighting one of the key positions of Turkmenistan in the Caspian region and Central Asia, the Polish President said that Turkmenistan's initiative on broad international cooperation in the energy sector is of particular interest in many EU countries, including Poland, which is interested in strengthening the bilateral partnership.
"The advantageous geographical position of Poland, located in the heart of Europe, allows to actively develop transit routes for energy supplies from the Caspian region to Europe, which is an important stimulus for the development of mutually beneficial cooperation," he said.
