In 2010, a number of crimes committed by teenagers in Baku decreased by 72 facts, Huseyn Mehdiyev, Chief of Section for organizing preventive works with teenagers of Baku City Head Police Department said.

In 2010, a number of crimes committed by teenagers in Baku decreased by 72 facts, Huseyn Mehdiyev, Chief of Section for organizing preventive works with teenagers of Baku City Head Police Department said.

"Teenagers don't take part in serious crimes. They basically commit offences such as petty theft and hooliganism," he said.

According to Mehdiyev, facts of coercion of minors to commit crimes by criminal groups are
very rarely met.  

According to the chief, the number of false information on bomb threats in public buildings reported by minors decreased by 17 facts.

"It became possible as a result of enlightenment works in secondary schools, colleges and universities of Baku. In this matter, the problem is that the teenagers do not know that this act is criminal," Mehdiyev said.

In 2009, Azerbaijan filed 47 criminal cases on placing of explosive devices in trains, railway stations, subway stations and other facilities.

Twenty eight peoples made criminally responsible, investigation on 12 criminal cases ended and 12 criminal cases have been sent to the court. Investigations on 23 criminal cases are underway.
