Nobody has put forward his candidature for the post of chairman of the opposition National Independence Party. No one has expressed its official position on this issue, Azerbaijani National Independence party Secretary on propaganda and press Ali Orujov said.
"Perhaps, there are pretenders for the presidency. Those people will nominate their candidatures for elections at the congress," he said.
After the 2003 presidential elections, NIPA chairman Etibar Mammadov resigned from his post. Since that time, Ali Aliyev and Ayaz Rustamov acted as chairmen.
Regarding the exact date of Congress, he said that the political council will determine it after local organizations complete meetings and conferences.
"We have no intention to postpone the Congress from July to another time. The exact time of the congress will be determined within one week," he said.
