The Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-Speaking Countries (TurkPA) marked the opening of its new website (www.turk-pa.org) at a ceremony in Baku today.

The ceremony was held in the Azerbaijani parliament.

The site's interface is in Azerbaijani, English, Russian, Turkish, Kazakh and Kyrgyz. It contains information about TurkPA's structure and history, and its members and activities.

Official documents adopted by TurkPA can also be found on the site.

TurkPA was established on Nov. 21, 2008 under an agreement signed by the Azerbaijani, Kazakh, Kyrgyz and Turkish parliamentary speakers in Istanbul.

Baku hosted the first TurkPA plenary meeting on Sept. 29, 2009.

TurkPA's goal is to support Turkic-speaking countries in international organizations, as well as to help them share their experiences in legislative processes. The assembly also aims to preserve language, culture and history in Turkic-speaking countries, and to further strengthen political, economic and cultural ties between member countries.
