Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili has pardoned 220 prisoners on Giorgoba Holiday (St. Giorgi Day), the Minister of Corrections and Legal Assistance Khatuna Kalmakhelidze said at the briefing today.
According to her, the prisoners pardoned by president include 10 women and one underage. In total, 182 prisoners have been fully pardoned.
"We will today ensure the release of the pardoned prisoners. They will be released from prison immediately after the presidential decree on pardon reach there," she said.
The Minister noted that the imprisonment period of 32 prisoners to have been reduced, three persons on probation reduced, and a suspended sentence of condemnation canceled for other three.
