Today's meeting of the committee of international parliamentary and inter-parliamentary relations discussed the bill approving the agreement on strategic partnership and mutual support between Azerbaijan and Turkey, the parliament reported.
"The agreement on strategic cooperation and mutual assistance between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Turkey" was signed by Presidents Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and Abdullah Gul of Turkey on Aug.16 in Istanbul.
The meeting also discussed draft laws "On approval of statements by the heads of Turkic-speaking countries at the Tenth Summit" and "Establishing a Council of high-level strategic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkey".
Committee Chairman Samad Seyidov said the documents submitted to Parliament for approval are evidence of expansion of Azerbaijan's international relations.
The meeting also particularly noted the importance of considering the approval of the Treaty on the state border between Azerbaijan and Russia, as well as the "Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the rational use and protection of trans-boundary water resources of the Samur River".
After discussion, the papers were recommended for consideration at the parliamentary session.
