The Georgian Foreign Ministry has launched a hotline to help Georgian citizens in light of the recent developments in Egypt.

The ministry set up the hotline (94 50 50) for Georgian citizens seeking information and advice. Upon the restoration of telephone connections, the hotline will become operational at the Georgian Embassy in Cairo as well.

In relation to the recent developments in Egypt and out of safety considerations, the ministry continues to warn Georgian citizens against travel to Egypt. Persons who are already in Egypt are strongly urged to avoid crowded places, to refrain from obtaining photo or video coverage of the protests and to stay in contact with the embassy.

On Friday, mass protests continued in Cairo and other Egyptian cities. Roughly 150 people died, and more than 4,000 were injured.

Egypt's authorities have ordered the severing of electronic communications.
