New Deputy Assistant Secretary for Caucasus appointed

Eric Rubin, who recently served as the deputy U.S. ambassador to Russia, has been appointed the U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs, the U.S. embassy in Azerbaijan told Trend. His responsibilities include supervision of the South Caucasus countries, Turkey, Greece, and Cyprus.

Eric Rubin, who recently served as the deputy U.S. ambassador to Russia, has been appointed the U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs, the U.S. embassy in Azerbaijan told Trend. His responsibilities include supervision of the South Caucasus countries, Turkey, Greece, and Cyprus.
A career diplomat, Rubin replaced Tina Kaidanow in this post, who was appointed as the First Deputy Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs.
As Georgian Foreign Ministry told Trend, in his new post Rubin has already attended a meeting of the Working Group on Defense and Security under the Georgian-American Charter for a Strategic Partnership, recently held in Washington.
Assistant Deputy Minister of Defense Alexander Vershbow also attended the meeting.
