'Iran ready to help Kyrgyz development'

Iran's Majlis (parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani has voiced the Islamic Republic's readiness to help Kyrgyzstan with its economic and industrial development.

Larijani made the announcement in a meeting with Kyrgyz Ambassador to Tehran Medetkhan Sherimkulov, Press TV reported with reference to IRNA.

The Iranian official expressed satisfaction over the two countries' expanding cooperation, saying that the abundant facilities and capabilities of Iran in different industrial and technological fields will be an important basis for the consolidation of friendly mutual ties.

He attached importance to the role of parliamentary ties in the reinvigoration of Iran-Kyrgyzstan cooperation, and said Majlis would support any effort to bolster bilateral relations.

The Kyrgyz envoy, for his part, pointed to the "effective activities" of Iranian companies in the various economic sectors of his country , particularly in agriculture, and said Iran is one of the biggest foreign investors in Kyrgyzstan's economy.

He welcomed an upcoming visit by Larijani to Bishkek and expressed confidence the visit would yield important results in strengthening the two countries' cooperation in economic and parliamentary areas.

Larijani is due to pay an official visit to Kyrgyzstan on October 19 at the invitation of Kyrgyz Parliament Speaker Akhmatbek Keldibekov.
