President Ilham Aliyev receives credentials of incoming U.S. ambassador

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today accepted credentials of newly appointed ambassador of the United States Richard Morningstar.
The ambassador passed along a ceremonial guard of honor, and they then had a conversation.
Richard Morningstar recalled his first visit to Azerbaijan in 1995, and his 2002 visit when he was accompanied with his spouse to attend a conference organized in collaboration with the American Councils for International Education. He also recalled his meetings with Azerbaijani national leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev.
The Head of State said he was happy to see Richard Morningstar in Azerbaijan. President Ilham Aliyev praised the Azerbaijan-U.S. relations, saying they were developing successfully. The President thanked Richard Morningstar for his contribution to strengthening the relations between the two states and to the economic development of Azerbaijan over the past 20 years.
The Head of the State praised U.S. support and the personal role of Richard Morningstar in the realization of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline and other energy projects.
President Ilham Aliyev also expressed confidence the relations between the two countries would develop successfully during Richard Morningstar`s tenure, and wished the diplomat successes in his activity.
