CEC: Azerbaijan has all necessary conditions to hold democratic, fair and free elections

Azerbaijan, Baku, August 23 /Trend, M.Aliyev/

Azerbaijan is on the eve of important election campaign, which also interests international structures, the Chairman of Central Election Commission Mazahir Panahov said during the session on "Inadmissibility of unlawful interference in election process" on Friday.

He noted that Azerbaijan's successful cooperation with international structures, in particular with OSCE, will play an important role in conducting democratic and transparent elections.

For its part, CEC as a structure controlling conduction of presidential elections at high level, tries to fulfill all of its responsibilities, Panahov added.

According to him, there are all necessary conditions to hold democratic, fair and free elections in Azerbaijan.

"Azerbaijan has a stable socio-political situation, and the Head of State has a political will to conduct democratic elections. I express gratitude to the Head of State for that he provided all the conditions for conducting elections, since otherwise holding the elections would've been impossible," the Chairman of CEC said.

After informing about the participants of the session, Panahov noted that in accordance to the requirements of the Election Code, the executive authorities play exceptional role in conducting elections at high level.

"That is exactly why senior officials of local executive authorities participate in today's session, as the high-level organization of the elections, should directly be in the focus of their attention and they are responsible for this," he stressed.

In terms of observation of the elections in polling stations by observers, elections in Azerbaijan are in one of the best places in the world.

"About 10,000 observers watched the previous elections. It is expected that a significant number of people will observe the elections this time and they are not required to obtain permission from anyone to do so," Panahov added.
