Baku, Azerbaijan, Sept. 12

The downside of purchasing ammunition and military equipment abroad is that during the purchase the technology is not delivered completely, Azerbaijani Deputy Defense Industry Minister Yahya Musayev said Sept. 12.
He made the remarks at a conference titled "The modern warfare methods and security challenges", held in Baku as part of the ADEX 2014 - Azerbaijan International Defence Industry Exhibition.
"It is no secret that this leads to a one-sided dependence. Therefore, we conduct scientific research, train specialists to create the technology for national defense industry," Musayev said.
He noted that the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is the reason for an embargo on arms sales to Azerbaijan.
Musayev said the defense industry of Azerbaijan has in a short time established cooperation with over 30 countries, and acquired modern technologies.
He also noted that Azerbaijan created a commission in the sphere of military-technical cooperation with Turkey and other countries.
The deputy minister said the purpose of holding the ADEX 2014 in Baku is the desire of Azerbaijan to expand military-technical cooperation with many world countries.
