Baku, Azerbaijan, Sept.8
By Seba Aghayeva - Trend:
There's an urgent need to research the history of migration, Novruz Mammadov, deputy head of Azerbaijani presidential administration, chief of the administration's foreign relations department tweeted Sept.8.
"This phenomenon emerged coupled with colonialism, being its derivative and vestige," he added.
The top official further wrote that migration crisis is a consequence of policy pursued by leading European nations today.
Migration policy was employed to secure following objectives: first phase - solidification and facilitation of colonialism, second phase - ensuring that country freed from colonialism remains under control, according to the top official.
"Migration policy served special interests of colonial powers during both phases," he noted.
"Now comes the third phase. This time around, migration is regarded as a threat to the very nations," Mammadov wrote.
In this phase they're already called illegal migrants, he added.
The problems related to refugees from the Middle East and North Africa have recently exacerbated in Europe.
