BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 31. Today, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov received the head of the election observation mission of Ditmir Bushati, Head of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights observation mission, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs told Trend.
During the meeting, preparations for the extraordinary parliamentary election on September 1 and related international commitments were discussed.
The minister provided detailed information on the consistent, systematic, and intensive measures being taken to ensure the upcoming elections are conducted freely, fairly, and transparently, including arrangements for international observers.
It was highlighted that following the presidential elections, parliamentary elections will be held for the first time in the territories of Azerbaijan liberated from occupation, marking a historic moment. It was noted that all necessary conditions have been established in accordance with legislative requirements to organize the elections at a high level, fully meeting international standards.
The importance of election observation missions maintaining an objective and impartial approach in line with relevant rules and mandates was emphasized.
The head of the OSCE mission mentioned that a press conference will be held on August 1 to officially launch the observation mission, and shared details about the activities the mission will undertake over the next six weeks.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
To note, on June 28, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed a decree dissolving the sixth convocation of the Azerbaijani Parliament and scheduling a snap election for September 1.
