DEMOCRATIC ELECTIONS ARE POSSIBLE WITH CURRENT COMMISSIONS IF THERE IS WILL

Politics Materials 9 September 2005 11:27 (UTC +04:00)

It is possible to hold democratic elections with the current Elections Code and commissions, the head of the OSCE Observation Bureau on Human Rights and Democratic Establishments, Gert Arens, said.

He noted that the OSCE regards the maintenance of the elections commissions in the previous composition as a serious defect. В"Nevertheless, it would not be right to state on possibility of organization of democratic elections with the current composition of the commissions,” Arens said.

Arens stressed that the marking of fingers with ink on the elections would be significant, as it would prevent the repeated voting. В"The method can seem unacceptable for some people, while the neighboring Georgia and Turkey applied this practice,В" he underlined.
