Iran's president to visit Baku

Irans president Mahmud Ahmadinedjad is going to partake in the summit of Organization for Economic Cooperation (OEC) held in Baku in early May, Trend reports with reference to Agai Feizullai, press secretary of IRI Embassy to Baku .

At the moment the program and agenda of forthcoming visit are being worked out, he said. In the course of his visit to Azerbaijan president is going meet with governmental officials and heads of delegations at the summit.

OEC summit is planned for May 4 to 5. This organization was established in 1985 and is a legal successor of Organization of Regional cooperation for development that acted based on Izmir agreement signed March 12, 1977 by three states Turkey, Iran and Pakistan. In 1992 Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan joined this organization.

Main purpose of OEC is creation of favorable conditions to promote continuous social-economic development for all participating countries: steady and sequential integration of region states economy in the global system, as well as promotion of active regional cooperation and mutual assistance in cultural, technical and other spheres.
