Heads of Border Services of 10 CIS Countries Discuss Fight against Drug Trafficking and Poaching

The 56th Meeting of the Council of Commanders of Border Troops of CIS member-countries was opened in Kyrgyzia on 19 October. The event brings together the heads of the border services from 10 CIS countries, except representatives of Georgia and Turkmenistan. During the meeting, all parties will exchange information regarding the situation on the borders of CIS countries, review the results of the special border operations in its fight against drug-trafficking from Afghanistan, arms turnover and illegal migration.

One of the key topics on the agenda is to discuss the measures to be taken in the prevention of poaching activities in the Caspian and Black Sea, Trendreports.

In addition, the heads of the border services will organize debates on the proposals regarding changes and annexes to the Regulation of the Council of Commanders of Border Troops. It is linked with the issue that recently, the structure of the border services of several CIS countries has changed. This needs to be specified in the Regulations, the Head of the Council, Lieutenant-General Alexander Manilov, stated in his interview with the Correspondent of ITAR-TASS.
