Significant Measures Taken for Delimitation and Demarcation of Borders in 2006 State Committee Head

The State Committee for Land and Cartography announced the results of the measurers taken over the delimitation and demarcation of the Azerbaijani borders, Trend reports. In 2006, 310 km out of 480 km of the Azerbaijani and Georgian borders have been agreed at the level of the state commissions. It makes up 65% of common borders, the Head of the State Committee Garib Mammadov said on October 31 at the meeting with municipalities. The expert groups recently held a meeting on the remaining 170 km.

The Georgian experts are expected to arrive to Azerbaijan in the near future. The territory around the David Garedji Monaster located on the borders of the two countries remains amongst uncoordinated territories. In the period of the USSR, a part of the Monaster was located at the territory of Azerbaijan.

More than 91% of the borders between Azerbaijan and Russia have been resolved.

According to Mammadov, unlike these countries, redemarcation is required with Iran. There are no problems, only with Turkey.
