President of Azerbaijan to Visit Germany on February 14-16

The Second Secretary of the Azerbaijan Embassy in Germany, Nasimi Agayev, exclusively informed Trend that the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, will make an official visit to Germany on February 14-16, 2007.

The Embassy of Azerbaijan has already begun preparing the program of the visit and upcoming meetings. A meeting is planned to be held with the Federal Chancellor of Germany, Angel Merkel. According to diplomat, this meeting has a great importance. Presently Germany chairs the European Union and intends to cover all actual questions within its chairmanship. Germany considers activating the implementation of the New Neighborhood Policy as one of the priorities of its activities and in this plan, Germany attaches a great importance to Azerbaijan, the diplomat said.

Within the visit on February 15, 2007, the President of Azerbaijan will make a speech in the Conrad Adenaur Foundation on the topic Azerbaijan in the 21st century: development and prospects. Supported by the Azerbaijan Embassy, the event will bring together the representatives of various political and business circles of Germany, members of Bundestag and the representatives of the Government and community.

The visit program of the State Head of Azerbaijan also includes participation and making a speech at the Azerbaijan-German business-forum on February 16, 2007. The forum will be attended by numerous business people of the two countries. According to Agayev, the bilateral documents are not planned to be signed within the visit because the agreement-legal base between the two countries have been enriched over the recent years by signing a number of bilateral documents.
