Agenda of Visit of PACE Chairman to Azerbaijan Known

Ilgar Farzaliyev, the Deputy Chief of the International Relations Department of the Milli Majlis (Parliament), has exclusively informed Trend that Goran Lenmarker, the Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), the Organization Rapporteur for Nagorno-Karabakh, is expected to arrive in Azerbaijan in the evening of February 7 within his visit to the region. He will hold a number of meetings in Baku on February 8-9. According to Mr. Farzaliyev, the visit of Mr. Lenmarker will last three days. Within the forthcoming visit, the PACE Chairman will meet Ogtay Asadov, Azerbaijan Speaker, Elmar Mammadyarov, Azerbaijan Foreign Minister, members of the Azerbaijan delegation to PACE, members of the Permanent Committee for International and Interparliamentary Relations of the Azerbaijan Parliament.

Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev is expected to receive Mr. Lenmatker as well.

In addition, Mr. Lenmarker will visit the Baku State University where he will participate in a seminar. After he presents a new project in the University, he will deliver a speech to teachers and students of the Educational Institute, said Mr. Farzaliyev.

According to him, in addition to Mr. Lenmarkers being the Chairman of PACE, he is the Rapporteur of the Organization for Nagorno-Karabakh. Therefore, the situation over the resolution of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict will be mainly discussed.

According to Mr. Farzaliyev, the OSCE Baku Office will organize the meeting between the PACE Chairman and representatives of NGOs and other public agencies working in the country.

Notably, the visit of the PACE Chairman to South Caucasus is expected to start on February 4. He will first visit Armenia and Georgia.
