President Ilham Aliyev: Project on Building Railway Route Baku-Tbilisi-Akhalkalaki-Kars Will Unite Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey Even More, as Well as Cement Regional Cooperation

Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan President, said during the today trilateral meeting with the participation of Georgia President, Mikhail Saakashvili and Turkish Prime-Minister, Receb Tayyib Erdogan that the project on building railway route -Baku-Tbilisi-Akhalkalaki-Kars will unite Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey even more, as well as cement the regional cooperation, Trend reports.

According to the head of the Azerbaijani State, the implementation of this project will bring stability and peace to the region. He said that the project generally met with the economic interests of the nations. Mr. Aliyev marked the successful development among the three countries in the oil and gas sphere, particular BTC and SCP Projects. He said that the implementation of the project on building railway -Baku-Tbilisi-Akhalkalaki-Kars would become a concrete step in the direction of cooperation in the oil field. The Azerbaijan President also emphasized Azerbaijan intensions to increase the oil and gas production and export in 2007.

Receb Tayyib Erdogan, Turkey Prime-Minister, called the above-mentioned project iron silk way. Speaking about the implementation of the three above-mentioned projects, Mr. Erdogan said that they would make a contribution to the issue of stability and prosperity of the whole region. The project -Baku-Tbilisi-Akhalkalaki-Kars, uniting Europe and Asia is another example of the regional cooperation, said the Turkish Prime-Minister.
