Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. S.Ilhamgizi / Hajiaga Nuri, the chairman of the Azerbaijani Islamic Party (AIP), stated that the AIP might join the Movement of Azerbaijan Intelligentsia (MAI).
Nuri noted that he received the proposal on joining the MAI from Eldaniz Guliyev, the Manager of the organization. The AIP and the MAI have been allies for long years.
AIP intends to increase its activity in the Union of pro-Azerbaijani Forces and to corporate with other social and political organizations.
AIP will hold meeting to apply a corresponding decision to the forthcoming 2008 Presidential election in Azerbaijan.
The Union represents three opposition political parties - the Unity Party of Azerbaijan (YPA), the People's Survival Party of Azerbaijan (PSP) and the AIP.
The oppositional IPA was formed in 1991, and in 1992 was registered in the Ministry of Justice of Azerbaijan.
After adopting the law on the political parties the AIP was not registered.
