Report on Azerbaijan to be Delivered at PACE Monitoring Committee Meeting

Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr I. Alizadeh / The PACE (Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe) Monitoring Committee's co-rapporteurs on Azerbaijan (ПАСЕ), British MP Tony Lloyd and Estonian MP Andres Herkel, will deliver reports in Paris on 11 September, according to the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament).

Also to be discussed at the meeting will be reports on Ukraine, Moldova and Serbia's obligations to the CE, unsettled conflicts and the investigation commission's visits to Montenegro and Serbia.

The Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights will discuss the role of the European Convention on Human Rights in the process of integration to the European Union (EU), Russia's ratification of the 14th protocol of the European Convention, Kosovo's further status as well as a range of other issues.

The agenda of the Committee on Political Affairs will include Kazakhstan Parliament's inquiry regarding receiving the status as observer, issues regarding the European Code on Secret Vote, the situation in Cyprus, co-operation of the Committee with North Africa countries, the use of double mandate by members of the Assembly (national and European) as well as other issues.

The Deputy Chairman of the Azerbaijani Parliamentary Commission on International Relations and Inter-parliamentary Bonds, a member of Azerbaijani delegation to PACE, Gultakin Hajiyeva, left for Paris on 10 September to participate in the meetings of the Monitoring Committee, the Committee on Political Affairs and the Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights. The MP will take part in the work of each committee.
