K.Zarbaliyeva / "I and my employees are involved into the court trial due to my statements concerning bilk of some officials, the company did not justify their hopes," Huseyn Arabul, the former Turkish president of the Barmek-Azerbaijan company, said during the court trial chaired by the Judge Sadraddin Hajiyev.
According to the Turkish businessman about 366 witnesses were questioned during the preliminary hearing and 56 people during court trial.
Arabul submitted his statement consisting of 262 pages and a photograph album about functioning of the company.
In compliance with the contract concluded between the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economic Development and the Turkish Barmek Holdinq A.S, the Turkish company will manage Bakuelectricshabaka within 25 years.
The company must have to invest some $51mln within 5 years. However, the planned sum had not been allocated.
The president of the company, Huseyn Arabul, is being charged with the contravening Articles 179.3.2 (appropriation and embezzlement), 308.2 (abuse of powers) and 313 (service falsification) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan and he was given a written undertaking not to leave a place.
Employees of Barmek limited company, the vice-president Omer Guner, director of technical Department, Vafa Agayev, alternate director of technical Department, Mahir Novruzov, the former manager, Chingiz Ibadov, chief of Financial Department, Valeh Abdullayev and chief of the Department on Exploitation of High Voltage Networks, Chingiz Abdullayev, and chief of the Service of Relay Protection, Askar Askarzadeh, were accused with the contravening Articles 179.3.2 and 313 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
