(dailymail.co.uk) - They could be snapshots from any bleary-eyed student party. Apart from the fact that a rather more mature reveller appears to have slunk right in to the centre of things.
At 47, Hugh Grant's university days are long behind him.
But maybe he has retained a taste for the cheap wine, cold pizza and teenage angst to be found at the average student knees-up.
Or perhaps it was just the fresh-faced company that made it a party too good to refuse.
These images of Grant appearing to kiss a young female student in St Andrews University digs at the weekend have been beamed around the world.
One of the other girls cuddling up to the actor at the party posted them on Facebook, the social networking website.
Other pictures show starstruck girls draping themselves around the man whose best known movie, Four Weddings and A Funeral, was released when they were in primary school.
Quite what Grant's recent exgirlfriend Jemima Khan will think of his choice of young friends is anyone's guess.
Cecilia Hoffman, one of the girls nuzzling up to him in the photos, graduated from a Roman Catholic high school in the U.S. last year and has just started her second year at the Scottish university.
Unhappily for Grant, she is also an avid Facebook fan, posting the pictures on the web probably before the hangovers had even kicked in.
Grant found himself in the company of the students after taking part in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at St Andrews golf course.
As the Dunhill function was winding down, he sneaked off to the popular student haunt Ma Bells.
A member of staff there said: "He has been here a few times - he must like it because he keeps coming back."
The party continued at the St Andrews digs of one of Miss Hoffman's friends.
"Hugh is adamant that nothing untoward happened," a friend told the Mail.
"He thinks he's quite within his rights to have a bit of fun with a group of girls whatever their age - it's not illegal after all.
"I'm not sure Jemima will be as impressed by his efforts."
