Sentence on Azerbaijani Former Minister of Economic Development to be Pronounced

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. E.Javadova / The Judge Tofik Pashayev proceeds to pronounce the sentence on the former Minister of Economic Development, Farhad Aliyev, his brother Rafik Aliyev, the former President of the Azpetrol Group of Companies, and other seventeen people, at the Azerbaijani Court of Serious Crimes on 26 October.

Farhad Aliyev is accused of committing corruption-related crimes. The rest members of the group are charged in attempts for a coup d'etat and staging of mass disorders in the country. F.Aliyev and R.Aliyev were arrested on October 19, 2005 with charges of abuse of power, bribery, illegal privatization of state properties and economic crimes.

The court hearings will be continued by pronouncing the sentence.
