Azerbaijan, Baku, 31 July/ Trend , corr K. Zarbaliyeva/ The Appeal Court of Baku rejected the appeal of the deputy chairman of Independent Turkey Party, a source in the court said.
The decision issued by the Yasamal District Court upon the deputy chairman of the party Mehnet Harun Kayachi, the Turkish citizen Gohkan Damir and Azerbaijani citizen Lankaran Safarov, was upheld by the Appeal Court.
Kayachi was detained by law-enforcement agencies as a result of the measures to fight illegal religious propaganda. They are charged with distorting peace under the cover of spreading religious trends and of setting up and running a group dealing with harming health of the people, violating their rights and preventing them from fulfilling their obligations indicated by law.
Yasamal District Court sentenced Kayachi and Safarov to reformatory work. Demir was made to pay a fine.
Kayachi was detained by the Military Prosecutor's Office in October 2007.
