Azerbaijani court sentenced junior sergeant accused of torturing soldiers.

Today, Ganja Court of Appeals announced a verdict concerning Ganja Military Prosecutor's Office's protest. The protest stipulated the aggravation of Junior Sergeant Guliyev Emin Tahir oglu's punishment.

According to this decision, the sentence of Ganja Court of Appeal was changed January 26, 2010. Guliyev was sentenced to one year and six months of hard labor and a fine of 300 manat.

Guliyev was charged under article 127.1 (deliberate causing of less serious physical harm), 331 (insulting, beating or torturing of soldiers) of the Criminal Code and sentenced by Ganja military court to pay a fine worth 200 manat.

Guliyev, was found guilty of torturing soldiers of the military unit he served.
