Azerbaijan will open landing courses for teenagers, Chairman of the National Council of the Voluntary Military and Patriotic Sports and Technical Society, Maj. Gen. Novruzali Orujov told Trend on Monday.

He said teens will be trained in several areas - theoretical training, skydiving, hand-to-hand fight and shooting.

Teens involved in skydiving will get rid of feelings of fear leaps, Orujov said.

"Skydiving is a psychological barrier, overcoming which man fears neither the military nor other situations. Therefore, we attach special importance to the parachute jump," he said.

Azerbaijan is in a state of war and 20 percent of the country's lands are occupied. Therefore, it is very important that young people passed through a similar preparation before military service, he added.

The Society opened training of snipers in Azerbaijan.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan since 1992, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and 7 surrounding districts.

Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group - Russia, France, and the U.S. - are currently holding the peace negotiations.

Armenia has not yet implemented the U.N. Security Council's four resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
