The Gazi Council of the Caucasus Muslims Office (CMO) has today issued a fatwa on beginning of sacred month of Ramadan.

In accordance with the fatwa, Ramadan begins on Aug. 1 on the Gregorian calendar and the "niyat" (intention) night falls on July 31.

Depending on the visibility of the moon in the territories of Muslim countries, Ramadan holiday will be celebrated on August 30 or 31 on the Gregorian calendar, or 29th and 30th of the month of Ramadan.

To help the fasting Muslims the CMO together with the Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory has prepared a special table and memo.

Gazis, authorized representatives in places, akhunds and imams have been instructed to ensure the compliance with regulations prescribed in the table.

According to the CMO's table, the night of al-Qadr will coincide the nights from 18th to 19th, from 20th to 21st, from 22nd to 23rd, from 26th to 27th days of Ramadan month.
