Azerbaijan, Baku, Nov. 29 / Trend M. Aliyev /

Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Mazahir Panahov urged people to go out and vote in the repeated, additional and new municipal elections to be held on November 30.

"There are posters in all over the municipalities," he said. "While being interviewed for press stories, CEC members are calling for the Azerbaijani population to go out and vote at the elections. Voters have been notified about how to go about it."
Mr Panahov said the elections will be held on November 30. The polls will be open from 8.00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The CEC chairman said that about 20 per cent of voters are women although the presence of Azerbaijani women in political life is actually much higher than 20 per cent.

"The CEC is always interested that women should be more represented in elected bodies," Mr Panahov said.

Over 1550 candidates for 464 vacant seats were registered in 330 municipalities. About 9923 people were registered as observers and around 1,155,864 voters will take part in the elections.
