Iranian Education Minister Hamid Reza Haji Babai on Wednesday began his visit to Azerbaijan, a spokesman for the Iranian embassy to Azerbaijan, Abbas Isgenderi, told Trend.
Isgenderi said that as part of the visit Babai is expected to meet with the Azerbaijani President. The minister will hand over letter of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in connection with participation in the Non-Aligned Movement summit.
He said the minister is also expected during the visit to hold discussions with other state officials.
Isgenderi said Babai during a two-day visit will also visit Iranian educational centre in Azerbaijan and meet with Iranians living in Baku.
The minister is accompanied by representatives of the Iranian Foreign and Education ministries.
Non-Aligned Movement's meeting will be held in Tehran on August 31.
Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) was established in 1955 as a resistance to "domination" of world powers and manifestations of colonialism. The five main principles of the NAM are: mutual respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty of each other, the non-aggression against each other, non-interference in internal affairs, equality and mutual benefit, life in peace.
From the post-Soviet countries members of the organization are Azerbaijan, Belarus, and Uzbekistan. Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Ukraine and Armenia are observers in the NAM.
