Some 24,063 people have been arrested in Turkey over eight months for drug smuggling, Anadolu Agency reported.
In total, 11,610 operations have been held against drug smuggling during the reporting period.
During the period from January to August, 38.5 tons of marijuana, 7.977 tons of heroin, 259 kilograms of cocaine, 124 kilograms of opium, 99 kilograms of amphetamine and 311 kilograms of methamphetamine were revealed.
