BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 29. Azerbaijani judoka Hidayat Heydarov (73 kg) has made it to the final of the competition at the Olympics in Paris, proving he's a force to be reckoned with, Trend reports via Idman.biz.

According to information, he faced Akil Gjakova (Kosovo) in the semifinals. The main time did not bring scores, but in the extra time, Hidayat made his unique throw and won.

The Azerbaijani judoka will meet Joan-Benjamin (France) in the final.

Heydarov won a place in the semifinals after defeating the Canadian athlete.

The athlete, going head-to-head in the 73 kg weight category, crossed paths with Israel's Tohar Butbul in the round of 1/8 finals.

Thanks to a penalty shootout victory, Heydarov advanced to the 1/4 finals.
