Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend K.Zarbaliyeva / A total of 783 Azerbaijanis are under the Armenian captivity, Eldar Mahmudov, the Azerbaijani Security Minister, said in a meeting with Thomas Hammerberg, the Council of Europe Commissar on Human Rights, on 7 September.
The minister said that 4,471 Azerbaijani citizens were registered as missing people. Mahmudov said that the State Commission on POWs, Hostages and Missing People does not observe the further fate of people and takes non-constructive position on the work on their repatriation, or search operation.
In this respect he stressed the necessity of strengthening the cooperation with the CE.
