Türkiye records growth in cargo turnover of Izmir Int'l Airport

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 14. Cargo turnover of Adnan Menderes International Airport in Turkish Izmir city grew in June 2022, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Türkiye told TurkicWorld, Trend reports.

According to the ministry, this figure amounted to 58,448 tons, up by 54 percent on annual basis.

The airport's cargo turnover on local flights amounted to 35,542 tons in June this year (an increase of 18 percent compared to June 2021), and on international flights – 22,906 tons (an increase of 1.9 times), the ministry said.

Meanwhile, passenger traffic at the airport rose by 70 percent in annual terms, exceeding 4.2 million people. The traffic on local flights amounted to 2.9 million people (an increase of 34 percent), and on international flights – 1.29 million people (an increase of 3.2 times).

Besides, according to the ministry, the number of flights performed in June 2022 was 31,124, which is 49 percent more than in the same month in 2021. Some 21,056 flights fell on local routes (an increase of 20 percent), and 10,068 - on international routes (an increase of two times).

Passenger traffic at all airports in Türkiye in the reporting month amounted to 75 million people, and cargo turnover – was 1.76 million tons.

Last year, passenger traffic at all airports in the country exceeded 128.3 million people, and cargo turnover – was 3.3 million tons, the ministry reminded.
