BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 19. The concept for Azerbaijan's honey export should be developed, Chairman of the 'Azerbaijan Beekeepers Association' (ABA) Public Union Badraddin Hasratov told Trend.
According to him, the honey export volume is currently at a very low level.
"This reduction is related to a number of reasons. The market research and Azerbaijani honey promotion are of utmost importance. In addition, European countries do not import honey, since the European market doesn't accept animal products from Azerbaijan. However, the Azerbaijan Food Safety Institute has already started negotiations on this issue. The European market is stable and expensive," Hasratov said.
He noted that Azerbaijani honey is a premium product.
"For example, in Arab countries, honey of the same quality as Azerbaijani honey costs more than $100, while our honey is exported only to a small number of countries," Hasratov added.
