Area of new intensive, super intensive gardens in Azerbaijan's agroparks revealed

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 3. The area of new intensive and super-intensive gardens in Azerbaijan's agricultural parks has reached 8,256 ha, Azerbaijan's Economic Zones Development Agency told Trend.

According to the agency, of the total area of the gardens, 2,600 ha are allocated for the cultivation of hazelnuts, 2,248 ha for olives, 1,228 ha for walnuts, 1,010 ha for almonds, 388 ha for apples, 355 ha for pomegranates, 152 ha for grapes, and 275 ha for various types of fruit orchards.

"Forest, olive, and walnut orchards laid out in agroparks are the largest intensive gardens in the country by area," said the agency.

In the agroparks that apply innovative technologies, the average harvest of wheat consists of 6-7 t/h per barley and wheat, 12-15 t/h per corn, and 80 t/h per sugar beet.

In addition, agricultural parks have granaries with a capacity of 493,000 cubic meters for the supply, storage, and sale of grain products, which is 24 percent of the country's modern granaries.

Currently, a total of 51 agricultural parks are being constructed in 32 districts of Azerbaijan. Some 34 parks are focused on crop production, 14 - on crop and animal husbandry, 1 - on animal husbandry, and 2 - on the processing industry.

Of the mentioned agricultural parks, 44 have already started their operations, while others are undergoing design or construction work.
