BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 12. The Turkish Port of Aliaga transshipped 16.9 million tons of cargo from January through March 2023, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Türkiye told TurkicWorld, Trend reports.
According to the ministry, ships flying the Turkish flag handled 422,578 tons, while vessels flying the flags of other countries transported 16.5 million tons of freight.
"In the reporting period, the Aliaga port delivered 148,195 tons of transit cargo," the ministry said.
A total of 31.9 million tons of cargo were handled by the Turkish ports in March.
During the reporting period, ships flying the Turkish flag transported 2.3 million tons of cargo through the local ports.
"The cargo transshipment by the ships flying the flags of other countries equaled 29.6 million tons," said the statement.
In addition, the Turkish ports handled over 6 million tons of transit cargo in March 2023.
According to the ministry, the Turkish ports received 91.5 million tons of cargo from January through March 2023.
"From January through March 2023, the ships flying the Turkish flag carried 6.4 tons of cargo, whereas the ships flying the flags of other countries transported 85.08 million tons," said the statement.
Furthermore, the Turkish ports handled 18.3 million tons of transit cargo from January through March 2023.
