BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 20. The port of Gemlik, located in the Turkish city of Bursa, received over 5.67 million tons of cargo, Trend reports.
According to the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, 638,300 tons of cargo was transported from the port of Gemlik by ships under the flag of Türkiye, while 5.3 million tons were transported by ships under the flags of other countries.
"A total of 259,861 tons of transit cargo were transported from the Turkish port of Gemlik from January through June 2023," the ministry said.
The ports of Türkiye received 33.7 million tons of cargo in June 2023.
Cargo traffic to domestic ports on ships under the Turkish flag amounted to 2.9 million tons during this period.
"Cargo transportation of ships under the flags of other countries to Turkish ports amounted to 30.8 million," the ministry said.
In addition, as many as 5.9 million tons of transit cargo were transported from the ports of Türkiye in June 2023.
According to the ministry, Turkish ports received 194.5 million tons of cargo from January through June 2023.
Cargo acceptance by ships under the Turkish flag amounted to 14.3 million tons from January through June 2023. And by ships under the flags of other countries, cargo transportation to the ports of Türkiye amounted to 180.1 million tons.
A total of 34.9 million tons of transit cargo were transported from the ports of Türkiye from January through June 2023.
The ports of Türkiye received 394.9 million tons of cargo in 2022.
Cargo acceptance by ships under the Turkish flag amounted to 28.4 million tons, while cargo transportation by ships under the flags of other countries to the ports of Türkiye amounted to 365.6 million tons during this period.
