Azerbaijan summarizes volume of nation's industrial production

BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 16. Industrial enterprises and individual entrepreneurs in Azerbaijan produced products worth 66.6 billion manat ($35.7 billion) in 2023, Trend reports, referring to the State Statistics Committee.

The committee's data showed that oil and gas output fell by two percent during the reporting period, while non-oil production increased by eight percent.

Meanwhile, the mining industry accounted for 67.4 percent of industrial output, followed by the processing sector (27.1 percent), the production, distribution, and supply of electricity, gas, and steam (4.6 percent), and the water, waste treatment, and recycling sector (0.9 percent).

In the manufacturing industry, production of machinery and equipment increased by 77.7 percent; production of wood and wood products by 65.6 percent; production of cars, trailers, and semi-trailers increased by 48.1 percent; and production of construction materials by 31.8 percent.

Besides, the manufacture of readymade metal products increased by 30.1 percent; beverage production by 23 percent; manufacture of rubber products and plastic mass by 18.5 percent; production of electrical equipment by 16.2 percent; production of tobacco products by 12.8 percent; output of paper and cardboard by 12.3 percent; production of furniture by 10.5 percent; production of food products by 9.2 percent; manufacture of textile products by 8.8 percent; production of petroleum products by 7.3 percent; and production of chemical products by 6.9 percent.

The data from the State Statistics Committee also showed that manufacturing of leather and leather goods, as well as footwear, decreased by two percent, vehicles by 4.1 percent, pharmaceutical products by 9.1 percent, the manufacture of computer, electronic, and optical products by 11.9 percent, the manufacture of other industrial products by 12.2 percent, clothing by 15.2 percent, the assembly and repair of machinery and equipment by 16.1 percent, and metallurgical industry products by 18.9 percent.

Over the reporting period, output in the generation, distribution, and supply of electricity, gas, and steam sectors increased by 0.6 percent, while output in the water, waste treatment, and recycling sectors increased by 15.5 percent year-on-year.

Industrial enterprises and individual entrepreneurs in Azerbaijan manufactured products worth 86 billion manat ($50.5 billion) in 2022, which is 1.1 percent less year-on-year.
