Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend S.Aliyeva / The Azerbaijani Transport Ministry plans to open the transport junctionon Z.Bunyatov Street and the pedestrian underpass on the intersection of Bulbul Avenue and Nizami Street, the Transport Ministry said on 24 September.
The new bridge will become the 5th built in Baku within the program to improve the Baku transport infrastructure. In total, nine transport junctions will be built in Baku. Presently, the construction of an additional four is ongoing near Meshadi Azizbaev subway station, near the Excelsior hotel, near the Khalglar Dostlugu subway station and in the third micro-district of Baku. The construction of the two junctions is planned to be completed by the beginning of 2008.
The work is carried out within the project of the Baku transport infrastructure at the Azerbaijan President's decree to improve the transport system in Baku in 2006 - 2007". The TOTAL cost of the project is AZN 300mln.
Currently, the expansion of the program on the construction of the transport junctions and 16 - 18 new bridges is underway. Should the program be approved, operations will begin in 2008.
