Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 16 / Trend , E.Ismaylov/ The Navigator company, which is the owner of the Russian dry-cargo vessel Sarmat-1, which wrecked in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, will repair the vessel in Azerbaijan, Maxim Grebennikov, the deputy general director of the company, said via a telephone on Dec. 16.
No victims were reported. The reason for the accident caused technique malfunction in the steering department of the vessel.
"The vessel need repair. We will clear the case after entering port," Grebennikov said.
The cost and producer of repair haven't been determined yet. This will be defined after specialists will check the vessel. "No serious damage is observed," Grebennikov added.
The vessel was insured and the repairs will be covered at the expense of the insurance.
The information of the wrecked Sarmat-1 vessel was delivered to the Coordination of Rescue Centre in Astrakhan on Dec.15.
Sarmat-1 was sailing from Russian Astrakhan Iranian Anzali loaded with metal products and lumber (1,750 tons). Steering machine went down on the ship because of a storm.
The crew of the vessel included 11 members.
