A leading Turkish labor confederation has withdrawn from minimum wage bargaining with the government on Thursday.

The Confederation of Labor Unions of Turkey (Turk-Is) decided to withdraw from the Minimum Wage Fixing Committee for the government and employers did not take their proposals into consideration and meet their calls and demands, reported World Bulletin.

The decision of the Turk-Is came just before a meeting in which the committee is expected to fix the minimum wage to be valid as of the new year.

The Turk-Is demands net 720 new Turkish liras (YTL) of minimum wage in the new year.

The net minimum wage is actually 503 YTL for workers over 16 years old, and 432 YTL for workers below 16 years old. (One USD is 1.52 YTL)
