Azerbaijan, Baku, June 18 / Trend U. Ismayilova /

The Azerbaijani National Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology began to monitor the quality of sea water on the beaches of Baku, the Ministry of Health said. The quality of sea water was analyzed within the monitoring.

According to the analysis, intensive pollution of the marine water continues on "Shikhovo" and "Sahil" beaches.

Waste water is mixed with marine water due to the ongoing repairs at the cleaning plant on the beach "Sahil".

As a result of laboratory tests it was revealed that the level of bacterial contamination of sea water also exceeds the norm on these beach areas, the report said.

As these facts were revealed on the beaches "Shikhovo" and "Sahil", National Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology banned the use of these areas for swimming to prevent infectious diseases among the population.

The Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology has made the appropriate appeals to the executive power of Baku, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources and the Head Police Department in connection with the execution of the ban, the ministry said.
